Assistant Practitioner Occupational Therapist 8840 | Permanent contract | £31,537 to £33,699 per annum (Scale G) | 37 hours per week | Millennium Library, Norwich
Responsibilities
* Work as an Assistant Practitioner in Adult Social Services within a specialist, award-winning social work service catering for the support needs of people from abroad.
* Work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures, including adults and children, to support independence and integration in community settings.
* Visit people in their own homes and provide advice and support to overcome obstacles to independence and integration in community settings.
* Work with multiple organisations in the public and voluntary sectors; think creatively; prioritise effectively; and work calmly under pressure and to tight timescales.
* Utilise good IT, communication and networking skills; ability to speak another language is preferred but not essential.
* Work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
* Supervision by a Practice Consultant Social Worker and working primarily under the direction of our Occupational Therapist with migrants across Norfolk.
* Develop and maintain knowledge of Liquidlogic records and other national databases required for the role.
Qualifications
* Essential: experience of working with migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and people from other cultures; confidence around using interpreters; positive, creative and non-judgmental approach; ability to work with migrants across communities.
* Desirable: working knowledge of social services and/or immigration; understanding of the principles of Occupational Therapy in overcoming physical/practical and psychological obstacles to independence.
* Willingness to learn and to deliver excellent support; a true team player with a "can do" approach.
* Enhanced DBS clearance is required for this post and ability to use Liquidlogic records and other national databases.
