Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic Duty Manager to join our Larkfield Leisure Centre team on a full time basis. Hours will be on a rota basis and will include weekdays and weekends, day shifts and evenings.
The Duty Manager is crucial in supervising the efficient operation of all recreational activities and driving continuous improvement in the management and operation of the Centre. The significant focus for the successful candidate will be the ability to motivate the team to deliver consistently high standards of service to enhance the customer experience. You should be quality driven, have sound operational, communication and people skills, and be flexible and able to deliver results.
Candidates should have at least 2 years previous supervisory experience in a busy multi-use site and have a good understanding of Health and Safety, preferably within a leisure environment. Candidates should ideally hold a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or have the ability to pass the qualification, as well as a Pool Plant Operators Certificate.
Responsibilities
To supervise the day-to-day operations of the Centre and the services it provides acting in a front of house capacity to ensure the highest standards of service delivery to the customer.
* To act as Duty Manager on a pre-arranged shift rota in accordance with the operational requirements of the facilities.
* To supervise the efficient operation of all recreation and community activities managed by the Centre.
* To establish, develop and maintain effective relationships with staff and the general public, and to promote the Centre, facilities and services, observing Customer Care practices at all times.
* To co-ordinate the effective deployment of the facilities’ resources, ensuring the maintenance of safe working practices and monitoring of safety procedures.
* To assist in the recruitment, motivation, development, welfare and performance appraisal of the Centre’s staff.
* To maintain the correct staffing levels for the operation of facilities in accordance with staff rotas.
* To identify any training and development needs for operational staff and to bring these to the attention of the Centre Manager.
* To efficiently prepare sports and community facilities, ensuring that equipment is safely stored, and facilities remain clean and free from hazard.
* To ensure the safety and security of the Centre facilities and immediate surroundings making certain that standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained.
* To ensure that reconciliation of all monies is carried out in accordance with the Trust’s financial regulations and be responsible for checking all monies recorded on each shift.
* To assist in the planning and development of the Centre’s activity programme.
* To ensure records and checks are completed correctly at all times.
* To act as keyholder and to be "on call" in emergencies as required.
* To undertake specific responsibilities as identified in liaison with the Centre Manager.
* To provide First Aid assistance as necessary to promote recovery, and to fully report any such incidents.

Knowledge & Experience
* Previous experience of managing teams in a leisure centre or similar customer operations environment.
* Previous experience of managing bookings including blook bookings.
* Highly organised and customer focussed.
* Possess strong leadership and people management skills.
* Good basic understanding of the Health & Safety principles involved in running a busy leisure centre.
* Committed to the provision of a quality service.
* Effective communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
* Be ‘hands on’ and able to work equally well on your own or part of a team, leading by example.
* Enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated.
