Overview
Specialty Doctor (Psychiatry) - CAMHS Inpatient. 10 PAs / sessions per week to provide clinical support to the CAMHS Tier 4 Coborn Centre. The space provides specialist, short-term care for children and young people aged 13-17 with severe or complex mental health difficulties. You will be working alongside a diverse multidisciplinary team. Our vision is to make a positive difference in young people’s lives by providing the highest quality mental health service to our local communities.
Responsibilities
* Work within a multidisciplinary setting offering psychiatric medical input in the assessment, treatment and care management of patients, carrying out all general duties including mental state examinations.
* Provide up to date, effective, safe medical care for patients to promote recovery and relapse prevention.
* Offer advice and support to other team members on competence and expertise.
* Work as a leading member of the multidisciplinary team, linking with statutory and non-statutory services as required.
Qualifications
* MB.BS, MBChB or equivalent
* Full Registration with the GMC
Desirable criteria
* Higher degree
* Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
* Approval under Section 12(2) of Mental Health Act 1983, or plan to gain approval within 6 months of appointment
Experience
* At least three years experience of psychiatry clinical practice post medical qualification
* Appreciation of social and cultural factors relevant to psychiatric practice
* Experience of and commitment to the clinical care of individuals with severe and enduring mental health conditions
* Desirable: experience of working with young people with acute and severe mental health problems
* Desirable: experience of Quality Improvement projects & Clinical Audit
* Desirable: knowledge and experience of applying the Mental Health Act
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary, multi-model team
* Ability to manage complex workloads and support others to do so
* Consultation skills to services, teams and individuals
* Commitment to working in a multidisciplinary setting and with service users on service development
