Overview
Join to apply for the Junior Sister/Charge Nurse - Paediatric Oncology Care Closer to Home role at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. The role is part of a new 12‑month pilot delivering SACT treatments in patient homes and on a mobile cancer care unit, within the care closer to home programme. This is a Band 6 nursing position based in Manchester.
Responsibilities
* Assess, develop, implement and evaluate family‑centred care in line with the care closer to home project, including SACT treatments at patients’ homes and on the mobile unit.
* Lead assessment of care needs, plan implementation and evaluate care for patients within the programme.
* Provide direct patient care and maintain detailed clinical knowledge of paediatric oncology.
* Ensure high standards of quality of care are delivered and maintained.
* Act as a positive role model within the department and in the community for staff, patients and carers.
* Contribute to the care closer to home project and ensure the provision meets the needs of patients and families.
* Facilitate high‑quality education and staff development opportunities to enable nurses to acquire clinical and professional competencies.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Band 6 registered nurse with experience in paediatric oncology or a similar acute setting.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
* Full driver’s licence and access to a car.
* Ability to recognise limitations and use initiative.
