We are now hiring, for our site in Peterborough : Confectionery Application Engineer Context The confectionery product range covers the following product groups: Hard Candy Including sugar free alternatives Gummies and Jellies. (Pectin and Gelatine including nutraceutical ingredients) Alternative gumming agents such as carrageenan, agar etc. Caramel and Toffee Fondant. For each product group Baker Perkins has a range of equipment. Generally including both the cooking system, (Kitchen) and Depositing technologies. Baker Perkins is among the world leaders in this sector. Job Purpose To be the technical authority and provide technical leadership for the Baker Perkins’ Confectionary process business. Main Duties Be a Sales support and a Trusted Advisor Supporting / defining machine scope Proposing creative solutions to challenging opportunities Visiting the customer with the Salesperson to establish their requirements to ensure best technical fit. Act as a Technical expert for our customers. Reduce technical risks Determining the technical risks on the contract Manage the main risks and the mitigating actions taken / or required during the bid and engineering phases Overall Technical Responsibility for the Confectionary equipment range Define and agree with the Process Team technical solutions for each customer proposal. Ensuring our equipment are fit for purpose and meet market requirements Understanding the process capabilities and the capabilities of the equipment, being the final arbiter in terms of problem solving Technical support for our Design department but also for our Field Service teams, and After Sales teams as and when required Help the development Determine the future direction of Development within the Confectionary product range. This includes new or additional machines, incremental development, major upgrades and redesigns of existing machines. We are planning to continue building our company expertise, thanks to this role. Understanding the needs of the customers in the Confectionary market (process trends, cost of ownership, throughput rates, etc) Understanding of market trends and competitor’s capabilities. Candidate Profile Significant experience in Confectionery equipment and production processes deployed in this industry – an experience in other Liquid Process Industry can be transferable (soups, chocolate, dairy…) Mechanical or Electrical background, with some skills in Controls Engineering, to understand the different steps of the production at our customers’ sites Capability to undertake technical analysis in order to solve problems and steer developments Creativity and technical ideas Solution-driven and customer-oriented sensibility Good communication skills Team spirit and sense of commitment Ability to travel around the world for some weeks per year This unique role is a key-job for our leading Brand.
