We are currently partnering with a Local Authority in Somerset, who are recruiting for a Litigation Lawyer to join their growing team on a 3-month locum contract.
This is a 25-hour per week contract with an hourly rate of circa £60.00/hour (Umbrella).
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
1. Managing caseload and advising on litigation matters such as homelessness, housing disrepair, debt recovery, possession proceedings, injunctions, and related issues including anti-social behaviour, traveller encampments, regulatory prosecutions, and judicial review proceedings.
2. Conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, legal documents, and providing case analysis.
3. Advising on education matters, particularly challenges to decisions around SEND and EHC Assessments.
4. Assisting in negotiating settlements and alternative dispute resolutions when appropriate.
5. Advising on licensing schemes and enforcement work.
6. Providing guidance and supervision to junior members of the Litigation team.
Requirements:
* Experience in Local Government law is required.
Working hours:
* 25 hours per week.
