We're seeking a talented and motivated Central Workshop Manager to join our innovative team in Deeside, North Wales. What you'll do: Lead and co-ordinate a large multidisciplined engineering team consisting of Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control Technicians as well as welders and apprentices in planned maintenance and reactive maintenance requirements across the SML site. Promote planned and preventative maintenance schedules, setting and enforcing consistent engineering standards using best industry practices and technical reference documentation. Support and drive equipment reliability through short & long-term maintenance planning, performance monitoring, understanding and supporting root cause analysis and continuous improvement processes. Support and manage the central workshop personnel teams, overseeing developments, appraisals, absences, overtime, training and ensure aligned departmental goals between respective disciplines. Ensure engineering standards, drawings and manuals are maintained, communicated and integrated into SAP and other relevant systems. Work closely with stores and planning teams to ensure the right spare parts, equipment quality and bill of materials are available and meet site needs and the team is fully utilised and coordinated through resource planning and scheduling Collaborate on maintenance plans, planned shutdowns and backlog management to optimise resources use and equipment uptime. Support Predictive Maintenance Programs, reviewing corrective reports and ensuring timely follow-up actions through the work order processes Manage contractor and SML work order activities on the operational areas with the operational engineering and process managers, including arranging permits, isolations and interdepartmental working requirements Maintain the work shops to 5S and world class standards, engaging the workforce to understand that a clean workshop is safe workshop too. Lead change management processes for equipment/process changes and perform risk assessments for engineering work. Provide production support, participate in on-call rotation for either Mech or E&I Support the Electrical/ Mechanical Manager when required during absence and engage in off-site duties as and when needed. Supporting the other engineering site support service areas as necessary, such as facilities, reliability, stores, lubrication, HV/MV process control and projects. What you'll bring: Degree qualified engineer or equivalent experience. Completed an apprenticeship within engineering with a HNC. 10 years post apprenticeship experience Leadership qualification desirable or equivalent experience. Able to mentor and support individuals to enable them to progress and improve. Understanding of a maintenance workshop environment and able to priorities urgent and critical internal repairs Good communication skills at all levels within the business Experience of SAP (PM) Planned Maintenance and SAP (MM) Material Management is desirable. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills, good judgement and a strong work ethic Highly motivated and proactive to develop and grow with the business Excellent written and verbal communication.
