Role Description
This is an on-site VRQ Tutor/Assessor – Taxis role based in Birkenhead. The role involves delivering VRQ training to taxi and private hire drivers, including planning and delivering classroom-based and practical sessions in line with awarding body requirements. The VRQ Tutor/Assessor will assess learner competence, review evidence, complete assessment documentation, and provide constructive feedback to support learner progression. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate training and assessment records, contributing to the development of training materials, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance and regulatory standards. The role requires regular communication with learners, colleagues, and external stakeholders to coordinate training schedules, support candidates, and uphold professional standards throughout the learning journey.
Qualifications
* Strong tutoring, mentoring, and facilitation skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly to adult learners and adapt teaching style to different learning needs.
* Assessment and evaluation skills, including experience (or strong interest) in conducting assessments, reviewing portfolios or evidence, and providing structured feedback.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with a professional and respectful approach to learners from diverse backgrounds.
* Good organizational, time management, and administrative skills, including accurate record-keeping and adherence to policies, procedures, and awarding body standards.
* Knowledge or understanding of the taxi and private hire industry, including safety, regulations, and local area awareness, or a willingness to learn quickly.
* Recognized teaching, training, or assessing qualification (e.g., PTLLS/AET, TAQA, or equivalent) is highly desirable, or a commitment to work towards an appropriate qualification.
* Proficiency with basic IT tools (e.g., email, document creation, online learning platforms) to support delivery, assessment, and record management.
* Ability to work on-site in Birkenhead on a regular schedule, with a flexible and reliable approach to working hours where required.
* Relevant experience in education, training, vocational assessment, or a related field is beneficial.
