About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Engineer to join our KierBAM Joint Venture team based at the Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard. This pivotal role involves overseeing and implementing quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure that all project deliverables adhere to the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop inspection procedures, conduct root‑cause analysis, and support ongoing quality improvement initiatives. Given the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is mandatory, and the process may take up to 8 weeks. Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past five years.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess relevant professional qualifications or a degree in a quality‑related discipline, coupled with practical industry experience, preferably within the nuclear or defence sectors. Essential qualifications include a CSCS Green Labourer card and a solid understanding of quality principles, inspection methods, and testing procedures. Familiarity with quality management tools such as FMEA, SPC, and root‑cause analysis is required, along with knowledge of standards like ISO 9001. Strong communication skills, problem‑solving abilities, and basic statistical or data analysis skills are also necessary to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

* Developing and executing inspection and testing procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
* Conducting root‑cause analysis and supporting problem‑solving activities to address quality issues promptly.
* Monitoring construction processes and reviewing documentation to verify that materials and products meet project specifications.
* Supporting audits, implementing quality systems, and managing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
* Collecting, analysing, and reporting quality data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for continuous enhancement of quality processes.
* Collaborating with project teams to embed quality practices into daily operations and ensuring regulatory adherence.

Benefits

At Kier Group, we pride ourselves on offering a comprehensive benefits package tailored to support our employees’ wellbeing and professional growth. Benefits include a matched pension scheme of up to 7.5%, life assurance, enhanced family‑friendly policies, discounts on popular brands, free health and wellbeing services, and access to extensive training and development schemes. We are committed to creating a supportive environment where our employees can thrive both professionally and personally.

We ensure that all applicants are considered based on their skills and experience without discrimination. As a Disability Confident employer, we guarantee that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria will be offered an interview. We support our employees and applicants through fair employment practices and are dedicated to creating an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. We encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply and contribute to our ongoing success.
