The Old Ship is a family-owned 17th Century traditional village public house in a rural setting in The Chilterns which after a long closure will reopen in spring 2026.
We are hiring for the following positions:
Pub/Bar Manager.
Competitive salary, Full time max 48 hours. Holds alcohol licence. With proven experience cellar/stock management control, a good all-rounder who is reliable, trustworthy and hardworking.
Duties/Requirements include:
· Ensure bar area offers are ready prior to and during opening hours.
· Sales/stock usage balances.
· Comprehensive knowledge of ales, wines spirits and derivatives thereof.
· Ordering/receipt of stock and products conditioning prior to consumption.
· Till and card reader reconciliation at end of shift. Security of cash/sales consolidation.
· Excellent team and customer skills.
· Numerate, maintain and further develop website/pubs e-commerce.
· Manage/overview reservations.
· Maintain cleanliness and availability of all areas used by customers during opening hours.
· Able to deal logically with the unexpected.
