Senior Trade Compliance Officer Location: Belfast (Hybrid working- 3 days in office vs home) Our Opportunity We currently have an opportunity based out of our Belfast site for a Senior Trade Compliance Officer. As a senior member of the Trade Compliance (TC) Team you will be responsible for, pertaining to compliance with international trade control laws, regulations and policies, in particular those related to UK and US export controls and UK Customs. This role is Operational focused. What will you deliver? Day to day responsible for managing internal stakeholders and external stakeholders (if required). To support the business line & provide the Head of TC with relevant analysis on reasonably complex TC issues related to small to sizeable & complex projects and contracts with very limited guidance. To identify TC risks and make recommendations to Business and the Head of TC in relation to small to sizeable & complex projects and contracts. To act as an authority on classifications when TC support is required from Engineering. To make their own license determination and support the team to make their own. To perform analysis to check and balance Business & Compliance issues to take position and advise the Business. To contribute to TC projects as a referent on their domain. To support audits with accurate records. To report suspected incidents and breaches to Head of TC. To support Head of TC when helping the TC Central team carrying out investigations, audits, and drafting Voluntary Disclosure. To contribute and deliver training in line with TC management guidance (if required). Contribute as a key user to the implementation of the local Trade Compliance policies, processes & tools. Support awareness and training sessions. Who are we looking for? You have: A solid knowledge and working experience of key Trade Compliance laws, regulations and best practice (including US and UK export controls, and UK Customs) Experience managing internal stakeholders Associated degree in law/international business/engineering, etc,. Minimum of 3 to 5 years import / export controls experience Desirable: Experience of working in defence/aerospace and/or dual-use sectors Some EU Export Controls knowledge Security Clearance statement: Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires Security Clearance (SC). It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years' residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
