About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 12 The Team: The Structured Finance (SF) team is responsible for a vast portfolio of criteria and models spanning ABS, RMBS, CMBS and structured credit (including CLOs). As a Model Developer Associate Director, you will be embedded within the SF team and work closely with model and criteria subject matter experts (SMEs) who develop, maintain, and deliver a growing portfolio of quantitative tools, models, and analysis that enable analysts to produce high-quality, transparent credit analysis. The Impact and Responsibilities: Impact: This role designs and delivers quantitative solutions that materially improve the efficiency, transparency, and consistency of credit rating analyses and research publications. Your work will directly support analytical decisions across global teams and help maintain the integrity and operational reliability of our models and tools. Responsibilities: Design and build nimble, user-friendly quantitative solutions and tools for use by credit analysts globally. Collaborate with Methodologies and Ratings Technology to ensure models and tools are reliable, operational, performant, and meet business requirements. Develop applications and dashboards that integrate models, tools, and data for organization-wide use. Analyze and synthesize large datasets to derive analytic value and insights for rating analyses and research. Identify and drive continuous improvement and new technical solutions aligned with business strategy. Serve as a technical expert on complex, non-routine problems and coach junior team members. Partner with SMEs to influence cross-functional initiatives and support criteria projects (tool development, testing, data gathering, documentation). Ensure quality standards through close collaboration with the Model and Criteria Validation group and produce comprehensive specifications and development documentation. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. What We're Looking For: Basic Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's or post-graduate degree in Finance, Financial Engineering, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field. Experience: An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 5-7 years of extensive experience in quantitative modeling, with relevant experience in structured finance or securitizations. Domain expertise: Deep knowledge of capital markets with specialized expertise in structured finance securitizations and credit risk modeling. Technical skills: Advanced proficiency in R (including R Shiny), Python, and C++; strong foundation in database modeling/design and SQL; experience with databases such as Oracle, Sybase, or similar platforms. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex quantitative concepts to diverse internal and external audiences. Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional, global teams and adapt to changing priorities. Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking with attention to technical detail.
