Our client based in Aberdeen is looking for a Mechanical Assistant to join their team on a staff contract basis.
The Mechanical Assistant works with the Base Mechanic to deliver tasks to high standards and provide top-quality service to clients. This role supports all mechanical activities within the company’s facilities, maintaining and servicing equipment, and suggesting innovations for continuous improvement. It ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality work while delivering excellent service to internal and external clients. The role also involves familiarizing with the company's equipment and procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
Additionally, the Mechanical Assistant supports the Base Electrician and Workshop Foreman in repairing, maintaining, and servicing equipment, preparing equipment for jobs, managing inventories, and other workshop activities as directed.
Essential Duties:
* Service, maintain, and repair all company equipment, including yard equipment and HYDRO-BOOST Diesel Pumps.
* Assist in repairs on centrifugal pump ends and replace components as needed.
* Prepare and perform 3rd Party Release Inspections for offshore mobilization of HYDRO-BOOST Diesel Pumps.
* Gain knowledge of all Mechanical shutdowns, such as Overspeed, Gas shutdown, and Emergency stops.
* Maintain calibration and safety systems, ensuring they are up to date and properly filed.
* Complete documentation accurately and promptly, including maintenance sheets, certifications, and equipment requests.
* Support engineering and operations teams with technical input.
* Monitor and evaluate services and products from third parties and suppliers.
* Familiarize with operation and parts manuals for the HYDRO-BOOST Diesel Pump fleet.
* Assist in procurement processes for the Mechanical Department.
* Maintain and improve the Mechanical Bay and stores.
* Ensure cleanliness, order, and appearance of the Mechanical Bay.
* Attend other work sites as required.
* Participate in the workshop on-call rota.
* Attend daily toolbox talks.
* Implement cost and time-saving ideas for maintenance and equipment preparation.
Desired Qualities/Qualifications:
* Secondary School Education or equivalent, with basic numeracy and literacy skills.
* Beginner-level proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Experience in warehousing, equipment maintenance, and servicing.
* Experience with pressure testing, valves, and fittings.
* Forklift truck operation certification is preferred but not essential.
