Strategic Design and Transition Programme – Strategy Policy Specialist – 32182
The Environment Agency (EA) is fully committed to an inclusive workforce and diversity. We seek a Strategy and Policy Specialist to support the Strategic Design and Transition Programme, analysing the Independent Water Commission’s recommendations and shaping the EA’s future.
Key responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality, evidence‑based advice on the IWC report recommendations, including the single water regulator proposal.
* Engage with government departments, regulators and EA colleagues to align thinking and secure stakeholder support.
* Offer constructive challenge and diverse perspectives in a fast‑moving environment.
* Assist other programme workstreams as required.
* Contribute to a high‑performing, agile team and help build resilience under demanding conditions.
Experience and skills
* Experience developing policy within central government, working with economists and scientists.
* Strategic thinking and high‑level communication skills, able to translate complex issues into clear advice.
* Strong engagement and influencing abilities across boundaries at senior levels.
Working arrangements
Flexible national role with EA Office base; occasional travel, including overnight stays. Smart tools are used to stay connected.
Contract and application
