Role: Commercial Assistant
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000
Location: Barnsley
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday
Contract: 12-month FTC (MAT leave cover starting May)
Overview
We are partnering with a leading facilities management provider to recruit a Commercial Assistant for their Complex Facilities Team. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover) based in Barnsley, with hybrid working available.
We're looking for someone with some experience in a commercial role, ideally within a PFI (Private Finance Initiative) environment. The successful candidate will provide key support in the commercial delivery of a large Schools PFI contract.
The Role
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that will involve a range of commercial administration duties, including:
* Setting up and maintaining subcontractor and supplier contracts
* Reviewing and processing applications for payment
* Supporting monthly reporting cycles and maintaining financial records
* Keeping commercial admin tasks up to date and well-organised
* Assisting in the preparation of monthly valuations and cost reports
* Attending and taking notes during monthly commercial meetings
* Supporting the wider commercial and operational teams with documentation and data input
* Ensuring all activity aligns with company processes and contractual obligations
What We're Looking For
* Ideally 2+ years’ experience in a commercial assistant or administrator role, preferably within a PFI and facilities management environment
* Good understanding of commercial processes and contract administration
* Confident reviewing payment applications and raising queries where needed
* Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
* Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* A proactive, team-focused approach
