The Teenage Cancer Trust Unit (TCTU) is a dedicated TYA Unit within the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton, where patients aged between 16-24 years can receive their cancer care and treatment in an age-appropriate clinical setting. The unit is staffed by both Adult and Paediatric Nurses. We are the Principal Treatment Centre (PTC) for the South Thames region, caring for patients with a wide range of Haematology and Oncology Cancers, including delivering Stem Cell Transplants. TCTU features resources such as a complementary therapy suite, chill-out room, roof garden, and an extensive holistically focused MDT to enhance patient experience.
Working at the Royal Marsden offers numerous academic and clinical opportunities. The unit provides educational support from experienced Practice Educators. Support is available to help you gain a relevant module in cancer care at level 6 or above, if you do not already hold one.
Responsibilities:
1. Shift Coordination: To coordinate and supervise shifts, communicating effectively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based patient care.
2. Clinical Judgment: To exercise clinical judgment and decision-making regarding patient needs and long-term care plans.
3. Clinical Trials: To participate in organizing and running clinical trials, including patient recruitment, education, monitoring, and liaising with trial sponsors as needed.
