We have an excellent opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our Quality Team, supporting our power and signalling & telecoms teams across the UK.
Key duties include:
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to address quality issues, drive continuous improvement, and deliver high-quality projects that exceed customer expectations.
* Promoting a culture of 'Right First Time' through effective communication, quality briefings, and site visits.
* Serving as the point of contact for all quality issues, providing guidance and fostering understanding of quality as everyone's responsibility.
* Analyzing trends in non-conformance, design, installation, and test data to identify improvement areas.
* Working with the wider business to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
* Tracking and analyzing costs related to poor quality and developing action plans to mitigate these costs.
* Producing project quality documentation such as Contract Quality Plans, risk assessments, reports, and presentations.
* Collaborating with Engineering to review and revise project ITPs, maintain approval registers, and monitor compliance.
* Leading audits and inspections based on ISO 9001:2015 and internal standards.
* Working with subcontractors and suppliers to reinforce quality requirements and upskill staff.
* Ensuring compliance with VRSB and Network Rail standards, identifying issues, and updating the IMS accordingly.
* Representing the quality team across multiple locations, mainly in the North West and Central areas.
* Engaging with site teams to promote a positive, collaborative working culture.
About you
You will be self-motivated, proactive, and experienced in working under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
The role involves up to 50% UK-wide travel for audits, inspections, and meetings. The ideal base would be Manchester/North West or Doncaster.
Working unsociable hours, including nights and weekends, is required.
The candidate should ideally have:
* A BTEC/HNC or equivalent in engineering; experience in Signalling or Telecoms is a plus.
* Experience in a Quality Engineering role, preferably in the rail or construction industry.
* Qualification as an Internal Auditor for ISO 9001.
* Hands-on experience with an IMS.
* Good understanding of engineering documentation.
* Experience with root cause analysis techniques such as 8D, Ishikawa, 5 Whys.
* Proficiency in MS Office applications.
* Excellent data analysis skills.
* Strong communication and organizational skills.
