Our ASD specialist school in Ascot is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Mental Health Assistant. We cater for children and young people aged 4 to 16 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), many of whom also experience additional mental health challenges such as anxiety, sensory needs, and social communication difficulties.
About the Role
As a Mental Health Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the emotional wellbeing of students. Therapy is an essential part of daily life for children with ASD – it helps them to understand their emotions, develop coping strategies, improve social interaction, and build confidence in a safe, structured environment. You will work alongside a skilled team of therapists, psychologists, and teaching staff to deliver consistent, compassionate, and child‑centred care.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an aspiring therapist, educational psychologist, or SEN teacher to gain first‑hand experience in a supportive and specialist setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting children and young people with Autism and associated mental health needs
* Working as a Mental Health Assistant within the classroom and during therapy sessions
* Assisting therapists and psychologists with the delivery of therapeutic programmes
* Providing 1:1 and small group emotional and behavioural support
* Promoting a positive, nurturing, and structured environment
Position Details
Full‑time, Monday to Friday | 8.30am - 4.00pm | ASAP start | £90‑£110 per day | Ages 4‑16 | Autism & Mental Health Focus
