Research Associate in Artificial Intelligence – UNSW

Responsibilities
* Conduct independent and collaborative research activities to advance expertise in Cognitive Robotics and Knowledge Representation and Reasoning/Neuro-Symbolic Artificial Intelligence.
* Engage in scholarly research growth, contribute to writing scientific papers and reports for international journals, and participate in conferences and workshops.
* Work with industry partners and actively participate in related activities.
* Report to Professor Maurice Pagnucco, Deputy Dean (Education), Faculty of Engineering, and operate with no direct reports.
Qualifications
* PhD (or soon to be awarded) in knowledge representation and reasoning (artificial intelligence) or neurosymbolic AI or a related area.
* Proven commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality academic research and work independently with limited supervision.
* Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
* Understanding of UNSW’s aims, objectives and values, plus relevant policies and guidelines.
* Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
Position Details
* Salary, Level A – AUD$113,911 to $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation
* Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia
* Full-time
* Fixed-term contract – 3 years
