Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Raw Materials Controller to join our team.
Job Purpose:
Bringing in all raw material and packaging onto site and ensuring that they conform with specification from our approved suppliers so that semi finished and finished products reach our customers in a safe, legal and are at the highest quality.
Key Accountabilities:
* Control and develop the processes governing raw material intake and supply.
* Assess and record the quality standards of raw materials, packaging and labels through auditing to ensure they are in line with site standards & Supplier specifications.
* Maintain concise records of examinations and sampling regimes.
* Carry out tests on incoming raw materials, using laboratory facilities where necessary, and to report on those failing to conform to specification and are from approved suppliers.
* Examine incoming raw materials and bought in goods for infestation or physical damage. When they do not meet standards send supplier incidents to the supplier and ensure that you are monitoring their response times. Build a relationship with the suppliers.
* Make sure you are aware of what raw materials are coming on site and find out the booking times for the warehouse so that you can plan your day effectively.
* Ensure CofA and CofC details information pertinent to R&W Scott requirement and matches agreed specification.
* Maintain records of all test results in computerised and written formats.
* Manage raw material sampling plan and follow up results for micro & chemical e.g. pesticide & heavy metal screening.
* Liaise with Head of Technical to assist in the supplier approval process and ensure approved specifications are on file for all raw materials.
* Management of approved supplier list.
* Trend Analysis of supplier performance and supplier incidents.
* Ensure warehouse have the correct details on the pallet labels and that anything that is of importance to the specification is noted on this.
* Responsible for implementing and developing of process and procedures around raw material intake and management e.g. offloading procedures and sample points.
* Conducting GMP, Hygiene, Glass & Internal Audits.
* Support and train QA's to inspect raw material deliveries to procedure, so that there is cover for your absence.
* Complete CofA's for customers on outgoing vehicles & ensure all microbiology results come in within the required specification – any Out of Spec results need to be investigated.
* Participation in the HACCP team and Health and Safety team as required
* Deputise for Head of Technical as required.
* Maintain a high level of housekeeping within the department.
* Report any quality or safety issues and specification issues to Head of Technical.
* Observe and conform with Company Policies.
* Participate in training and development activities as training needs are identified.
* A strong commitment to and awareness of Health and Safety, as you'll be required to comply with our health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
* A strong commitment to and awareness of Good Manufacturing Practice and the global standard for food safety
* Ensure that products manufactured on site are legal, safe, authentic and of a high standard

* Any other reasonable duties as directed by management
Ideally, the successful candidate would possess the following attributes: -
* Previous experience and/or knowledge of food safety standards such as BRC, customer audits and HACCP.
* Experience in a similar role within a food manufacture environment and/or educated to degree level in a food science related discipline.
* Highly self-motivated individual with a hands on approach and "can-do" attitude
* Solid communication skills both written and verbally
* Meticulous approach to work; well organised and with a keen eye for detail
* Computer literate, experience using Microsoft Word and Excel is essential
* Excellent time management skills
* Strong understanding of quality assurance principles and practices.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: £26,500.00-£33,500.00 per year
