The Role:
Lead and inspire the Cambridge Supply & Production team to deliver excellence in operational performance, safety, and regulatory compliance. This leadership role is pivotal in ensuring water treatment, production asset reliability, and team development are optimised in line with strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Champion a safe working environment through robust health & safety systems and regular safety tours
Ensure full compliance with DWI and EA regulations and the Competent Operator Scheme
Maximise asset reliability and operational efficiency using risk-based maintenance strategies
Manage regional supply-demand balance and uphold abstraction license compliance
Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to boost performance and reduce operating costs
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, ensuring engagement, retention, and succession planning
Oversee operational budgets (Opex/Capex) with a drive for cost-efficiency
Collaborate effectively with internal departments and key external stakeholders
Participate in the 24/7 Duty Manager rota (minimum 1 week in 6)
What You’ll Need:
Skills & Experience
Proven leadership in operational environments, preferably in water supply or utilities
Strong understanding of regulatory standards (DWI, EA)
Experience managing operational budgets and continuous improvement plans
Familiarity with water treatment processes and production asset management
Ability to drive compliance, health & safety culture, and team development
Qualifications
HND or Degree in Water-related, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
IOSH Managing Safely
EUSR National Water Hygiene & SHEA Cards
Full UK Driving Licence
Medium Risk Confined Space Certificate (desirable)
