Business Area: Cox Automotive – Central Finance
Join us and lead meaningful finance transformation
We’re looking for a technically strong and commercially aware Finance Manager to join our Central Finance team on a 12‑month fixed-term contract. This is a high-impact role where you’ll work directly with the Head of Accounting UK to deliver key finance transformation initiatives across the UK & Europe.
If you enjoy solving complex accounting challenges, improving controls, and driving tangible change — this is an opportunity to make a visible difference in a large, multi-entity environment.
Why this role stands out
This isn’t a typical “steady-state” finance role. You’ll be at the centre of four major strategic workstreams, helping shape how finance operates across the group:
Drive a major accounting transition
Lead key elements of the FRS 102 (FRED 82) conversion, assessing impact, shaping accounting policies, and working closely with auditors to ensure a smooth transition.
Play a pivotal role in a US-led controls review, acting as the UK finance lead, identifying gaps, and embedding lasting improvements across the business.
Redesign and standardise the balance sheet reconciliation and review process, improving quality, clarity, and accountability across multiple entities.
Support system and capitalisation improvements
Partner with IT and project teams on the rollout of the Rally timesheet system, ensuring robust and compliant accounting for capitalised labour.
What you’ll be doing
* Partnering with senior stakeholders across finance and the wider business
* Delivering technical accounting solutions and clear documentation
* Driving process improvements that stick beyond your contract
* Acting as a key point of contact for auditors and US stakeholders
* Supporting broader finance activities including month-end and ad hoc projects
What we’re looking for
Essential experience & skills
* Strong technical accounting knowledge (UK GAAP / FRS 102)
* Proven experience in financial controls and process improvement
* Experience working in a multi-entity or group environment
* Confident communicator, able to engage both finance and non-finance stakeholders
* Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Nice to have
* Experience with FRS 102 transitions or GAAP conversion projects
* Exposure to US parent company environments or global controls programmes
* Knowledge of capitalisation for software or labour costs
* Experience with timesheet or project accounting systems
What success looks like
By the end of the assignment, you’ll have:
* Delivered key outcomes from the FRS 102 transition
* Strengthened and embedded financial control frameworks
* Improved the quality and consistency of balance sheet reviews
* Ensured robust accounting processes around capitalised labour and system implementation
You’ll be part of a collaborative, high-performing Central Finance team that plays a critical role in shaping business decisions and enabling strategic change across the UK and Europe. This is a fantastic opportunity to leave a lasting legacy in a complex, fast-moving organisation.
