Mental Health Support Assistant - Psychology Graduate - Education and Training - Northampton

The Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) opportunity is ideal for individuals aspiring to build a career in Counselling, Men's Health, Wellbeing, Criminal Justice, Social Care, or Youth Justice.

Can you demonstrate the value of education to students while building meaningful relationships and ensuring their safety?


Job Details:

* Title: SEN Mental Health Support Assistant
* Location: Northampton
* Salary: £450-£500 per week
* Start Date: Immediate or September
* Contract: Long-term, 5 days a week, 8:30 - 16:30

This role is suitable for graduates or individuals with experience in mental health and SEN, who can identify suitable roles for themselves.

It is also an excellent opportunity for graduates interested in Social Justice, Parole, Probation, and the Criminal Justice system, especially in advocacy related to mental health needs.

The position offers hands-on experience working with social, emotional, and mental health needs in an Alternative Provision in Northampton supporting boys and girls aged 5-19 with additional needs related to SEMH.

The school adopts a restorative, therapeutic approach to education and behavior management, focusing on developing personal and key skills for students.


Responsibilities:

* Working in classes of 3-6 pupils with a staff-to-student ratio of 1:1
* Supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health challenges


Requirements:

* An undergraduate degree (preferable) and/or SEN experience, especially for Criminology and Psychology graduates
* Interest or experience in how mental health and autism affect different genders and individuals
* Good educational background in English and Maths (5 GCSEs grade C/4 or above)
* Active outside interests such as Sport, Cooking, Coding, Dance, Hairdressing, Photography
* Knowledge or keen interest in various learning and behavioral needs, including SEMH
