Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Loft Conversion Fitter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transforming attic spaces into functional, high-quality living areas. This role requires a versatile individual with a strong background in carpentry, joinery, and general construction work. The ideal applicant will have experience working on residential loft conversions, demonstrating attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
Duties
* Fabricate and assemble structural components for loft conversions using hand tools and power tools
* Install flooring, insulation, walls, and ceilings to create habitable spaces
* Carry out roofing tasks related to loft extension projects, ensuring weather-tight finishes
* Fit staircases, ladders, and access points securely and safely
* Carry out masonry work such as brickwork or blockwork for structural support
* Handle heavy lifting of materials and equipment safely and efficiently
* Collaborate with other tradespeople including electricians, plumbers, and masons to ensure project completion on time
* Maintain a clean and organised work environment throughout each project phase
Experience
* Proven experience in loft conversions or similar residential construction projects
* Strong background in fabrication, carpentry, joinery, and assembly techniques
* Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, roofing materials, masonry, plumbing, electrical systems, and construction painting
* Experience with heavy lifting and working with various building materials in a safe manner
* Knowledge of building regulations related to loft conversions and residential extensions is desirable
* Previous experience working on-site within a team environment is essential
Candidates should demonstrate excellent craftsmanship, safety awareness, and organisational skills. A valid UK driving licence is advantageous but not mandatory.
