Job overview

Pennine Care are proud to be developing our clinical offer for Cared For Children and Care Leavers, in conjunction with our local authority partners and colleagues across the Greater Manchester area. We aspire to provide our cared for children with high quality, trauma-informed services, and reduce the disadvantages faced by children when moving between boroughs.

The CAMHS Care For Hub includes five dedicated community mental health teams for Cared For Children (CFC) across the footprint of Pennine Care with posts available in Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Stockport. Clinical Psychology is valued within our community teams and the wider Trust. Working bases can be discussed following interview. Successful applicants will join tour Trust-wide community of practice led by Consultant Clinical Psychologists, with close links to our partner Trusts in Greater Manchester.


Main duties of the job

We offer a robust supervision and development structure. You would be part of an expanding, energetic, innovative CFC teams. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-agency team, working alongside clinical psychologists, senior mental health practitioners with support of Allied Health professionals (including a Trust-wide Speech and Language Therapist) as well as collaboration with Carers and professionals in social care and education.

The post may require extensive travel to placements and CFC services, potentially across our GM-wide footprint. Successful applicants will be required to demonstrate a viable plan to meet their transport needs sufficient to fulfil their role appropriately.

This is an exciting time to join the Cared For and Care Leavers Pathway, as we develop our shared service culture and refine our clinical offer to support the mental health and wellbeing needs of our cared for children and their carers. We are seeking passionate and experienced Assistant Psychologists who are ready to develop their work experience while supporting CFC services to enhance provision for this vulnerable group.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The main duties will be to support the promotion of CFC offers:

To help support assessments, consultations, clinical formulations and training offers to foster carers and stakeholder professionals

To assist with the delivery of clinical work for CFC and Care Leavers, families and carers, including observations, structured interviews, gathering feedback, and supporting clinicians with low‑level clinical tasks. This will include administration of psychometric testing

To help develop and deliver group interventions and create clinical resources (digital and hard‑copy).

To maintain accurate clinical records and ensure all work complies with Trust policies, safeguarding requirements, and professional standards. Participate in supervision, reflective practice, mandatory training, and the Trust’s appraisal processes.

The support, development and well-being of our workforce are the foundations on which we continue to develop services to ensure children and young people, especially CFC, receive optimal and timely care.
