About the Role
As a Branch Manager, you'll be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of your branch, ensuring it runs efficiently, safely, and profitably. You'll build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues, while driving sales growth and delivering excellent service. This role combines commercial leadership, people management, and operational accountability.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, motivate, and develop a team to deliver excellent customer service and achieve sales targets.
* Manage staff rotas, training, performance reviews, and succession planning.
* Create a positive, safe, and inclusive working environment.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with trade and retail customers.
* Identify local sales opportunities and implement initiatives to drive branch performance.
* Ensure the branch consistently delivers high levels of customer satisfaction.
* Take full responsibility for branch P&L, budgets, and cost control.
* Monitor performance against targets and implement corrective actions where necessary.
* Drive profitability by maximising sales, managing margins, and controlling overheads.
* Ensure stock is managed effectively, with accurate ordering, storage, and availability.
* Maintain compliance with health & safety standards and company policies.
* Oversee branch security, housekeeping, and operational processes.
* Work closely with regional colleagues and the wider Jewson network.
* Represent Jewson within the local community and promote the brand positively.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Proven experience in managing a team in a retail, trade, or merchanting environment.
* Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and delivering financial results.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and people-management skills.
* Customer-focused with a track record of building lasting business relationships.
* Organised, resilient, and confident in making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
* Knowledge of the building materials industry.
