This part‑time post (5.75 hours) will involve working the following shifts: Week 1 – Sunday 1:30 pm–7:30 pm; Week 2 – Saturday 1:00 pm–6:30 pm. The role will provide enhanced hours and is based at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.
The job holder will work within the DHRS team, covering A&E at VHK and occasionally at MIU, QMH. Responsibilities include serving patients at the front line of A&E and MIU, accurately recording patient attendance and admissions via Trakcare, and handling anxious or upset patients with empathy and professional customer service.
Administrative tasks comprise running reports, accurately updating data, preparing and scanning medical casenotes/ED cards, and uploading to the clinical portal. The post may involve training in the NHS Fife Switchboard; duties will then include handling internal and external calls, responding to pager requests, monitoring alarms, and providing telephony support to NHS employees and the public.
Ad‑hoc duties may be requested by Health Records Supervisors to support the 24/7 inpatient and emergency team. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential, as data are uploaded to a live clinical system.
Applicants should possess relevant admin/clerical experience, be able to prioritise within a busy environment, and work both independently and as part of a team. A Standard Grade (or equivalent) education with passes in English and Arithmetic is required, along with good typing skills, organisational and listening skills, flexibility, and strong written and oral communication.
This is a part‑time position with a salary paid pro rata.
