A market-leading manufacturer based near Mansfield is seeking a highly experienced Operations Director to take a critical senior leadership role within the business. This is a unique opportunity for a commercially astute and operationally strong leader to join a well-established, forward-thinking organisation with clear succession potential to Managing Director within 3 years.
The Role
You will be responsible for driving operational excellence across a multi-functional manufacturing environment, with a strong emphasis on leadership, strategic planning, and continuous improvement. You'll oversee production, engineering, supply chain, quality, and health & safety-ensuring the business delivers on its ambitious growth plans while maintaining high standards of delivery and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead day-to-day operations across all functions including manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain
* Deliver against key KPIs around safety, quality, cost, and delivery
* Drive cultural and performance transformation in a technically led, hands-on environment
* Support and develop senior management teams
* Contribute to board-level strategy and business planning
* Prepare the business for further scale and succession, with a clear route to MD
* Champion continuous improvement, lean practices, and sustainable growth
About You
* Proven experience in a senior operational leadership role at Director level
* Multi-functional management experience within a complex engineering/manufacturing environment
* Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes is essential
* Engineering qualification (Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent) preferred
* Exceptional leadership, people management and change management skills
* Commercially savvy with a strategic mindset
* Experience influencing at board level and engaging with shareholders
