Are you a passionate and experienced SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) with the vision to ensure that every student receives the support they need to thrive? An ambitious and inclusive secondary school in Dorset is seeking a dedicated SENCO to lead its SEND provision on a full-time, permanent basis from January 2026. Location: Dorset Start Date: January 2026 Salary: MPS/UPS TLR (depending on experience) About the School This 11–18 inclusive secondary school educates around 1,100 students, with a reputation for being both academically ambitious and supportive of all learners. The school has a proud ethos of “achievement for all”, with dedicated provision for students with SEND, EAL, and additional learning needs. Facilities include: A fully equipped Learning Support Centre with quiet study rooms and sensory spaces. Specialist intervention rooms for literacy, numeracy, and speech & language therapy. Onsite access to external agencies including educational psychologists and specialist therapists. A large pastoral hub offering counselling, mentoring, and well-being support. The school has been recognised for its inclusive approach and strong partnerships with families, carers, and the wider community. Your Role: Lead and manage the SEND department, ensuring high-quality provision for all students with additional needs. Oversee the implementation of EHCPs and ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice. Coordinate interventions and support strategies to improve progress and outcomes. Line-manage Learning Support Assistants and provide coaching and guidance. Work with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide holistic support. Contribute to the wider school improvement strategy and pastoral care provision. The Ideal Candidate Will: Hold QTS and the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or be working towards it. Have proven experience working with SEND students in a secondary setting. Demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills. Be committed to inclusive education and equal opportunities.
