Job Title: Community Worker
Reporting To: Community Learning and Development Manager
Contractual Status: Temporary contract to 31st March 2026
Working Pattern: 35 hours per week over 5 days, between the hours of 8.30am – 8.30pm, Monday to Sunday
Salary: £25,200.00 per annum
Annual Leave Entitlement: 25 days, plus 9 public holidays, plus 3 days for Christmas shutdown

What you'll do
We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Worker to join our Community Development team. As part of the role, you will provide support to the current FARE Scotland team during the delivery of the Organisation's community engagement and development programmes.
You will be responsible for the planning, preparation and delivery of all sessions and activities being provided for the whole community who participate in our programmes, enabling the people in our community to access healthy and nutritional food provisions as well as support them to engage in a wide range of community activities that will support their overall physical, social and emotional development needs.
As part of your role, your main responsibilities will include:
* Creating a safe and welcoming environment that encourages healthy lifestyles and positive community involvement.
* Supporting the delivery of tailored interventions to vulnerable young people and children, engaging them with activities to guide their personal development and wellbeing.
* Enhancing the opportunities for young people and children from diverse communities to participate in fun, physical and educational activities.
* Delivering direct support to children, young people and adults that enable them to fully participate and flourish during our community-based programmes.
* Ensuring all work including programmes, interventions and support to individuals are effectively recorded and monitored.
* Identifying achieved outcomes for the participants, the project and the organisation, contributing to the collation of information to support the production of high-quality reports and statistics.
About you
The successful candidate for this role will have:
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* The ability to work with people at all levels internally and externally.
* The ability to challenge, in a constructive manner, negative attitudes.
* Good knowledge of community support and development and family support initiatives.
* Experience of providing outcomes-focussed programmes to individuals excluded from mainstream society.
* Experience of delivering community support and development programmes.
* Experience of providing physical activity and creative arts sessions to children, young people and adults.
* Experience of planning and implementing activities in a coordinated programme.
* Experience of implementing monitoring and evaluation processes
* An understanding of the barriers and challenges faced by communities that limit their opportunities to engage in and benefit from, services and activities in their local community.
* An HNC/HND in a relevant field or a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
