We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Legal Secretary to join our Private Client / Family Team at Cripps.
This is a key support role, providing our lawyers with high-quality administrative and organisational assistance so they can focus on delivering exceptional client service. You’ll play a central part in ensuring our clients receive a seamless experience — managing day-to-day operations, coordinating communications and helping the team deliver on both legal work and business development initiatives.
Main Responsibilities
* Proactive diary and meeting management, including travel arrangements, calls, and events.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal colleagues.
* Acting as a key point of contact for clients via email, letter and telephone.
* Preparing documentation and materials ahead of meetings, including locating and drafting documents.
* Supporting fee earners with business development activities, including preparing presentations, proposals, and event coordination.
* Managing incoming communications (emails, post, calls) and ensuring timely responses in the fee earners’ absence.
* Maintaining accurate client and matter information on the firm’s systems (including CRM).
* Producing and maintaining spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and reports as required.
* Assisting with financial tasks such as expense management, residual balances, and reporting.
* Organising occasional team meetings and social events.
* Travelling between offices when required to support the wider Private Wealth group.
Key Skills & Attributes
* Previous experience in a similar legal secretarial or administrative role within a family department.
* Strong IT literacy; experience with BigHand and Peppermint is an advantage (training provided).
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a confident and professional manner.
* Highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.
* Strong sense of confidentiality, discretion and professionalism.
* Team-focused with a collaborative, “can-do” approach.
* Experience of working in a professional services environment.

Qualifications
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
* Confident use of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
