1-2-1 Teaching Assistant – Key Stage 4 SEMH Support

This school is looking to appoint a dedicated 1-2-1 Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 4 female student.
As a 1-2-1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support throughout the school day, helping the student to engage with learning, manage emotions and develop the confidence needed to succeed in education. You will act as a mentor, advocate and positive role model, building a trusting relationship that encourages participation, attendance and personal growth.
The role will combine classroom support with mentoring, requiring someone who can adapt their approach to meet the student's individual needs while working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and families. This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker or Support Worker who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
Job Role:
1. Providing dedicated 1-2-1 support for a Key Stage 4 female student with SEMH needs
2. Building a positive and trusting mentoring relationship
3. Supporting the student in lessons to improve engagement and progress
4. Assisting with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
5. Encouraging confidence, resilience and independence
6. Supporting attendance, wellbeing and participation in school life
7. Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals
8. Monitoring and reporting on progress, engagement and wellbeing

The Successful Teaching Assistant Will Have:
16. Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, SEND or barriers to learning
17. Strong communication and relationship-building skills
18. A patient, resilient and empathetic approach
19. The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
20. Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker or similar (desirable)
21. A genuine passion for helping young people achieve positive outcomes
