About the role
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Senior Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor to join our Power Transmission & Distribution team in Norwich.
In this key role, you’ll play a vital part in driving our Zero Harm ambition—providing expert guidance, on-site coaching and proactive support to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing across our projects. You’ll work closely with operational teams to promote safe behaviours, ensure compliance, and embed a positive safety culture on site.
As part of our Power T & D business, you’ll contribute to delivering critical infrastructure for electricity network owners and operators. From overhead lines and cabling to substations, our teams provide end‑to‑end solutions across the full lifecycle—ensuring a safe, reliable supply of power to millions of homes and businesses.
What you'll be doing
* Support the delivery of the Zero Harm & Sustainability Action Plan
* Undertake inspections, audits, site tours and reviews, producing clear reports and actions
* Provide practical HSW advice, coaching and support to site teams, supply chain and subcontractors
* Engage early in planning and design to identify and control risk
* Promote safer ways of working using the hierarchy of control and behavioural safety principles
* Deliver HSW training, briefings and toolbox talks to meet project needs
* Ensure compliance with HSW legislation, company policies and the BMS
* Support incident investigations and ensure lessons learned are shared across the business
* Contribute to HSW initiatives, continuous improvement and best practice sharing
* Build strong stakeholder relationships and support HSW input into work‑winning activities
* Support audits, drive performance improvement and champion HSW innovation across projects
Who we're looking for
* Educated to NEBOSH National Level Certificate or equivalent
* Good communicator with influencing and persuasion skills
* Approachable
* Good interpersonal skills and team player
* Displaying and demonstrating the Balfour Beatty behaviours at all times
* Incident/Accident investigator/fact finder
* Accurate record keeping
* Relevant experience in a construction / civils role
* UK driving licence holder and willing to travel when required
