At Kirklees College we are always looking for new talent, and welcome applications from all sectors. Whether in a teaching & learning role or in one of our specialised Business Support functions, you\'ll be involved in nurturing and developing the next generation of construction workers, engineers, health workers and countless others. We\'re already a successful college, but we\'re continually striving to be better and do better - be part of our story!

In the role of ESOL Teaching Assistant you\'ll predominantly be based at our Waterfront and Pioneer centres and your focus will be on working with students whose primary language is not English in their language-learning journey. This is an ideal stepping stone into teaching for those who aspire to progress or are already on that journey.

Responsibilities

* Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities both within the classroom and outside of the academic learning environment with some support from tutors.
* Identify individual SEND needs through initial assessments and complete inclusion plans for others to follow.

Qualifications and Experience

* Ideally, you\'ll have a Teaching Assistant qualification or be willing to work towards one.
* Experience of working in a post-16 environment with adult ESOL students.
* Strong communication skills, ability to encourage high aspirations, manage change and collaborate with other areas of the college to support a whole college SEND approach.
* Demonstrate Kirklees College values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence.

Working Pattern and Safeguarding

You will need to be flexible around our 52-week curriculum delivery: daytime 8:30–17:00 and evenings 18:00–20:30. It\'s essential you are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Development, Benefits and Culture

Staff development opportunities include a mentoring scheme, financial contributions for external qualifications and skills development for current and aspiring managers. You\'ll have access to a range of staff benefits including an employee assistance programme, retail and leisure discounts and reduced Metro travel. We value education and a culture of supporting and challenging one another.
