Exciting opportunity for the right person to work with the Council Disabled Facilities Grant service. The team has recently changed and now work closely with the Social Services department and the Occupational Therapy team. The successful candidate will help to manage the service and have opportunities to look at new ways of working and input into the development of the service.
About the role
Pay Details: Grade 9 31-35 £41,771-£46,142
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours
Main Place of Work: Canolfan Ty Jenner, Gladstone Road, Barry
1. To assist the Occupational Therapy Team Manager and Grants Officers in the day-to-day management of the Housing Grants function.
2. To monitor all areas of service responsibility to ensure the delivery of quality services.
3. To undertake the duties of a Grant Agency Officer as and when required.
4. To assist in the implementation of policies of the Council in regard to the Grant Agency role and to the processing and payment of grants.
5. To co-ordinate and supervise calls and daily tasks to Grant Agency Officers and Support Officers.
6. To provide team leadership to the Grants Agency Officers and Support Officers including responsibility for effective communication to and from the team.
7. To represent the Council, as requested, in relation to all Housing Grants, Grant Agency and Area Renewal related matters, at meetings of the Council or other bodies and groups.
8. To liaise with members of the public, elected members, officers of the Council builders, agents as necessary to process applications for Grant Aid and other public funded initiatives.
9. To undertake detailed monitoring of grants on a percentage allocation as determined by the Occupational Therapy Team Manager
10. To assist in the preparation of relevant reports and documents for the Council.
11. To contribute towards the Occupational Therapy Team Plan.
12. To carry out site inspections and examinations as may be necessary and to undertake the duties of a Grants Agency Officer as required.
About you
13. 3 years post qualification experience in Housing Grants
14. Knowledge of building construction/ renovation
15. Knowledge and experience of relevant service area delivery to the public
16. Good management skills
17. Good analytical and all-round communication skills
18. Keep concise records
19. Ability to work as part of a team and under instruction
20. Ability to work on own initiative when required
21. Minimum of H.N.C or equivalent in Building Construction or related discipline
22. Well motivated and a willingness to succeed
23. Ability to drive/travel throughout the Vale or between locations as appropriate
