Finance Manager – reporting & commercial
Location: Newbury (Hybrid working – 2 days in office)
Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 + Bonus & package
We are partnering with a growing business in Newbury that is investing in strengthening its Finance function. The organisation is focused on improving financial visibility, controls, and reporting across its operations, enabling informed strategic and operational decision-making. This is a blended role that focuses on Business partnering, month end reporting, forecasting and financial reporting.
The Role
As Finance Manager, you will play a central role in the production of monthly management accounts, project accounting, variance analysis, and forecasting. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will work closely with Senior Leadership, the Management Accounts team, and operational stakeholders to provide actionable insights, identify improvements, and support the ongoing development of finance processes.
This role is ideal for a technically strong, hands-on accountant with experience in month-end reporting, FP&A, and project accounting, who enjoys working collaboratively with the business and developing a high-performing finance team.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts and month-end journals
Review, challenge, and interpret monthly results against budgets and forecasts
Analyse project profitability, costs, and commission processes, providing actionable insights
Lead monthly business unit reviews and present findings to senior finance leadership
Develop and maintain finance dashboards and reporting tools using SQL and Power BI
Manage and develop a team of 4 Management Accountants
Contribute to annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial plans
Support audits, finance system enhancements, and business integration projects
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls
Requirements
ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with strong audit and industry experience
Proven experience in month-end close, FP&A, and project accounting
Advanced Excel skills
Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
Experience managing and developing teams
Strong analytical, time management, and problem-solving skills
Hands-on approach with strategic understanding of business operations
Desirable
Experience with UKGAAP and IFRS
Exposure to multi-site operations and complex business projects
