You must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to ensure patient safety is consistently maintained. The role involves assisting the Registered Nurse in the assessment, planning, and implementation of care for patients within the Emergency Department. You will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and be accountable to the Nurse in Charge, escalating any concerns promptly to registered professionals. Accurate and timely documentation on electronic patient records is required.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care and assist patients with nutritional needs.
* Record vital signs and conduct pain assessments.
* Perform wound care, including cleaning wounds, applying dressings, and assisting with wound closure under supervision.
* Conduct phlebotomy, cannulation, blood glucose monitoring, pregnancy testing, urine testing, and prepare samples for microscopy.
* Record ECGs and apply plaster of Paris back slabs, splints, and bandages.
* Assess patients for crutch use and give correct fitting instructions.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organised environment by cleaning all areas of the department, decontaminating cubicles, and preparing clinical areas for patient use.
* Attend mandatory training and ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
