A Day in the Life
At Medtronic, we aim to improve healthcare worldwide through innovation and dedicated teamwork. As a Technical Consultant for Structural Heart, you will provide comprehensive technical support to interventional cardiology professionals, including physicians, nurses, and cath lab staff. Your role involves supporting the commercial team by expanding account usage and developing customer relationships, primarily in the north of the UK. You will spend much of your time at hospitals assisting with transcatheter aortic valve implant (TAVI) procedures, including 'scrubbing in' with clinical teams, loading valves onto delivery systems, and providing real-time support during implants. This position involves extensive travel, mainly supporting Scotland and North East England, with about 80% on territory and 20% off territory.
Responsibilities may include:
* Providing clinical case support for TAVI procedures using Medtronic CoreValve Evolut system.
* Supporting pre-procedural planning with 3mensio CT imaging software.
* Training healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
* Presenting clinical data and supporting marketing campaigns.
* Organizing and delivering scientific presentations and training events.
* Collaborating with sales to support intraoperative sales efforts.
* Contributing to sales and marketing strategies to meet business objectives.
* Supporting product launches, training, certification, and inventory management.
* Preparing educational materials and conducting training sessions for medical staff.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, healthcare, or related technical field; registered nurse or cath lab specialist preferred.
* Clinical, operational, or interventional experience in cath labs.
* Manual dexterity and keen visual acuity.
* Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment.
* Independent and team-oriented work skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with a passion for field support.
* Flexibility in work schedule and a valid driver’s license.
Previous TAVI or Structural Heart experience is advantageous.
