The salary for this role is £40,609 (including Specialist Allowance of £3,100). Onsite work is expected five days a week, with potential weekend shifts and overtime, and willingness to undertake these shifts is appreciated.
Job Description
This position is based at Culham, Oxfordshire.

The Role
Are you seeking an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As an Electrical Technician, you will provide engineering support to the Electrical Services Group, ensuring the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the Culham site's power supply infrastructure and low-voltage control systems, in accordance with current legislation and standards.
You will lead small to medium work packages involving complex HV/LV electrical equipment, including minor installations, modifications, and technical studies, with appropriate documentation.
Additionally, you will perform fault-finding on electrical systems, ensuring solutions are technically sound, and supervise work on these systems.
Additional Responsibilities
Lead specific projects within the Electrical Services Group, ensuring compliance with legislation and safety standards, and manage work packages to meet technical and safety criteria efficiently and cost-effectively.
Supervise multidisciplinary teams, including electrical staff, agency workers, and external contractors, to support UKAEA operations, ensuring coordination and oversight.
Oversee design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems, preparing necessary documentation such as procedures, risk assessments, and local rules.
Provide assurance through calculations and analysis of electrical switchgear and cabling, review existing systems, and manage documentation for review and approval, maintaining budget control within the Group.
Support Project Engineers with work packages, act as the owner of specific plant/equipment, and potentially mentor electrician apprentices.
Qualifications
* Qualified electrician with an electrical craft apprenticeship or an HNC in electrical discipline.
* City & Guilds 2395 or equivalent (Testing & Inspection).
* Significant industrial/commercial electrical experience.
* Supervisory and leadership skills.
* Ability to work safely under a written safe system of work.
* Problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
