Location: Runcorn
Work Pattern: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work as required

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Assistant Operations Manager to support the leadership and coordination of activities at a major Energy Recovery Facility (ERF). This role is essential in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient site operations, supporting the delivery of business goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Assistant Operations Manager will take day-to-day responsibility for overseeing operational staff, including direct line management of Shift Team Leaders and other site personnel. The role works closely with the site leadership team, including the EHS Manager and Engineering Manager, to maintain high standards in performance, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Operations Manager in leading and coordinating all site operational activities.
Provide leadership to Shift Team Leaders and operational staff, ensuring safe and efficient plant operation.
Assist in the monitoring and achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs) and business objectives.
Work collaboratively with engineering and safety teams to maintain compliance with internal and external standards.
Contribute to the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
Support team development through coaching, training, and performance management.
Help implement and maintain corporate management systems and procedures.
Take a proactive role in promoting a positive health, safety, and environmental culture.
Requirements:
Essential:
Significant experience in a supervisory or management role within a technical, industrial, or process environment.
Strong leadership and team development skills.
Familiarity with corporate management systems and procedures.
Knowledge of the waste management, power generation, or energy recovery sectors.
Educated to ONC/HNC/HND level (or equivalent) in a relevant technical or engineering discipline.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
Experience within Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs), power stations, or similar process plants.
Exposure to health, safety, and environmental compliance practices.
