We design, build, operate and maintain low‑carbon district energy networks and building energy systems for communities, towns and cities. We work with local authorities, developers, house builders and property owners. Our focus is on city‑scale decarbonisation and the built environment, deploying investment and resources in one of the last clear solution areas.
Current Projects
* The design, installation, operation and funding of a district heating system to serve 3,500 homes in Clapham as part of a major regeneration project.
* The design and installation of a heat network in a rural community in Cambridgeshire to replace oil boilers in 300 homes with centralised low‑carbon heat generation.
* The design and installation of a ground source heat pump system to provide heating and cooling to a new development of 300 homes, a gym and office building in South London.
* The design, installation and operation of a new city‑centre‑wide low‑carbon district heating system for Cardiff.
* Developing detailed long‑term decarbonisation plans for existing large‑scale district heating networks to transition from gas‑fired CHP generation to low‑carbon generation.
Role
Hemiko is seeking a highly flexible, self‑starting Electrical Engineer with building services design experience to join the design team as a Design Support Engineer (Electrical). The position is based in Sheffield and involves supporting the design and growth of heat‑network infrastructure throughout the UK, including occasional site visits.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the design and delivery of new energy projects during pre‑construction and construction phases, working with the wider Hemiko team.
* General & emergency lighting design.
* Small power and data distribution.
* Containment and LV distribution with single line diagrams.
* Automatic fire alarm system design.
* Prepare detailed drawings, reports, calculations and specifications for different RIBA stages.
* Survey and evaluate existing building energy systems.
* Coordinate the work of other disciplines and ensure integration with engineering teams.
Qualifications / Experience
* Appropriate Electrical qualification (BEng).
* Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Amtech and DILAXO.
* Good knowledge of UK legislation, standards, regulations and best practice.
* IT proficiency: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, e‑mail systems.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Strong organisational, time‑management and planning ability.
* Creative, inquisitive and enjoys solving problems.
* Willingness to question conventional design methods.
* Strong desire to learn, develop and progress.
* Team player with high self‑motivation and organisational ability.
Remuneration
* Base salary £37k – £51k.
