This is a permanent, part-time position for two days per week (Thursday and Friday), working in partnership with a long-standing and experienced part-time teacher as part of a job share. We are a small rural village primary school serving the parishes of Barningham, Coney Weston and Knettishall, although a number of our children do come from out of catchment. The school has a Voluntary Controlled Status under the diocese of St Edmundsbury. The buildings date from 1859, with more modern additions, and are set in attractive fenced grounds with two playgrounds, grassed areas and gardens. We have a good-sized hall, four classrooms, a small library area and our own school kitchen providing hot meals at lunch time. The school is next to a playing field which we use for PE and after school clubs. The school caters for children from Nursery (age 3) through to Year 6. We currently operate a four-class structure: Early Years (Nursery and Reception), Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and 2), Lower Key Stage 2 (Year 3 and 4) and Upper Key Stage 2 (Year 5 and 6). At times, we move to a three-class structure to best meet the needs of our pupils. Each class is led by a class teacher and supported by Teaching Assistants.
