What is the role?
This is an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join the Commercial Team. This role typically reports to the Commercial Director.
The purpose of the role is to manage the team responsible for providing sound financial management of sites in the region through effective controls and reporting, enabling senior management to assess site status.
Primary Responsibilities
* Oversee all commercial aspects of sites of varying complexity, ensuring the team of Surveyors set up budgets, produce bi-monthly valuations, appoint subcontractors, and make payments to maintain cost control and support management decisions
* Ensure timely processing of payments, resolve disputes, and maintain an accurate financial picture of site status
* Compile site valuations bi-monthly and present to the Board to highlight variances from budgets
* Negotiate to obtain the best rates for sub-contracts and materials to maximize margins
* Utilize the Persimmon Group COINS system to set up new sites, establish budgets, and predict site profitability for financial planning
* Coordinate with other departments (Construction, Sales, Customer Care, Accounts) to ensure efficient site operations
* Comply with the Group's Health, Safety & Environment Policy and promote safety standards within the team
* Assign tasks to the Commercial team, ensuring quality and adherence to company guidelines
* Mentor and develop junior team members to enhance their skills and responsibilities, improving regional productivity
* Assist the Commercial Director in business decisions and participate in regional meetings as a subject matter expert
What experience do I need?
* Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, partners, suppliers, and staff
* HNC/HND in a construction-related subject
* Proven experience in commercial and buying processes
* Experience working in a volume house builder environment
