Finance Assistant Welcome Break Gordano & Michaelwood Salary up to £30,500 plus benefits The Finance Assistant or Assistant Site Finance Manager as we call this internally is a critical role in providing support for our Site Finance Managers and our Operations teams across the Welcome Break network. Their role is pivotal in maintaining the strong financial control environment that is required as part of running a £300m turnover business. The role itself will report to the Site Finance Manager but will form part of the overall site operations team as they deliver the best customer experience on the motorway services network site. The Finance Assistant or Assistant Site Finance Manager as we call this internally, will provide support for SFMs at two locations, supporting with key tasks as listed below, and essentially making sure that the site is maintaining the required standards expected of the finance team. This role will be expected to spend time at both sites on a basis to be decided. From time to time the Finance Assistant or Assistant Site Finance Manager role is also expected to deputise for the Site Finance Manager during periods of annual leave or other absence. Consequently, this role enables a great opportunity for career progression as we look to create a pipeline for any Site Finance Manager vacancies in the future. Key to this role will be the development of effective working relationships with both operations and the finance team through strong financial, communication, and coaching skills. Responsibilities Specific responsibilities for this role include the following: Monitoring of live inventory for all trading units Review the accruacy of invoice processing Review waste,stock and transfer documentation on a sample basis to monitor accuracy of the system. Support stocktakes in accordance with company policies. Review and validation of all stock quantity adjustments and stock write offs. Monitor of stock holiding level Communication and monitoring of company financial procedures Effective implementation of control processes and procedures Attending Business Unit control meetings. Providing finance training for operational managers. Collection and refilling Game zone. Collection of amenity building cash. Maintenance and refilling of site change machines. Review of weekly payroll, and amendments, (Timepoint system). Business and financial Reconciliation Production of site period accounts with accuracy & to set deadlines Audit compliance and effective implementation of business assurance activities Qualifications, knowledge and experience. Evidence of the following would be considered advantageous but not essential: Operational finance and stock control Communication to a wide range of Managers and Team Members Influencing skills Service focused Experience of Fast moving and high volumes Branded and multi-unit management experience Finance & Accounting acumen Using and managing Information Technology Coaching & Influencing skills Good analytical skills Ability to implement new policies and procedures
