Job Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic generic therapy assistant to join the Community Rehab Team at Airedale General Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for activities delegated to them and will work without direct supervision but will have immediate access to a clinician for advice and direction as required. Generic therapy assistants in the community rehab team work in peoples homes, care and nursing homes in the Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven localities. Main duties of the job The Post Holder Will Manage a caseload delegated by clinicians Independently undertake basic assessments and interventions relevant to delegated caseload Contribute to the evaluation of programmes and patient’s progression making minor alterations in consultation with the therapists. Support therapists with complex cases as required Work with colleagues to ensure the effective functioning of the team Work in partnership with patients, carers, the multi disciplinary team and wider statutory, private and voluntary sector services. Participate in activities to improve the Community Rehab service. Provide support to other team members and students Work flexibly according to patient and service needs In pursuing these duties the post holder will ensure compliance with the NHS Constitution and the Trust’s Right Care strategy. This position is not currently eligible for a certificate of sponsorship in line with Home Office guidance as it does not appear on the skilled worker visa occupation list. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria GCSE or equivalent in English and maths at grade C/4 and above Relevant BTEC, QCF or equivalent Level III qualification in health and social care or equivalent. Desirable criteria Courses relevant to job eg Equipment, Dementia 4 GCSE passes A - D Experience Essential criteria Recent, relevant experience of working in acute, mental health or other clinical support worker roles Experience of working with people with complex health needs Experience of working with older people who have suffered illness or disability Experience of multidisciplinary team working Experience in use of IT applications Desirable criteria Experience of working in therapy services Experience of working in Community Experience of supporting others Evidence of Therapy competencies Knowledge Essential Criteria Knowledge of the impact illness and disability have on function Knowledge of Rehabilitation and Discharge planning process Knowledge of the roles of other professionals and the principles of partnership working Knowledge to promote and support equality and value diversity Knowledge of health, safety issues Desirable criteria Knowledge of relevant clinical assessments and treatments Skills Essential criteria Communication skills including observation, listening and empathy Skills to empower people to realise and maintain their potential in relation to health and well being Ability to work well within a team Analytical and reflective skills Planning and organisational skills Negotiation and problem-solving skills Ability to cope with working in a stressful environment, including emotional or aggressive patients and carers Desirable criteria Supervisory skills Other Essential criteria Current UK Driving Licence Desirable criteria Access to own transport
