About the Role:
We’re seeking an experienced social worker to carry out bespoke assessment work across the South of County Durham. You’ll be allocated cases that require thorough, high-quality assessments, including:
1. Pre-Birth Assessments
2. Parenting Assessments
3. Children & Family Assessments
4. Other specialist assessments as directed by the manager
This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a direct impact on children’s lives at an early stage of need, providing the right support before problems escalate.
What We’re Looking For:
You’ll bring a strong assessment background and a passion for improving outcomes for children and families. You should be:
5. A Qualified Social Worker, with a degree or equivalent in Social Work
6. Registered with Social Work England
7. Experienced in assessment work (pre-birth, parenting, child and family)
8. Skilled in engaging with children and families, even in complex or sensitive situations
9. Knowledgeable in Child Protection legislation and child development
10. A creative, flexible, and reflective practitioner
11. Confident working as part of a multi-agency team
12. Experienced (ideally 4+ years post-qualified)

14. Manage a varied and manageable caseload
15. Work in partnership with other agencies to ensure child-centred, effective planning
16. Use excellent communication and report-writing skills to influence positive outcomes
