Manufacturing Supervisor Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire Salary: £42,000 – £45,000 DOE Hours: Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm
We are working with a well-established UK pharmaceutical manufacturer operating from a modern, state-of-the-art GMP facility in Hertfordshire. Following continued growth and internal movement, they are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Supervisor to join their manufacturing leadership team.
The Role Reporting into the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for leading and motivating a manufacturing team of approximately 15 direct reports. You will oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations while ensuring high standards of quality, compliance, safety, and efficiency. The role also includes deputising for the Manufacturing Manager when required.
Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate daily manufacturing operations, including blending, granulation, compression, and encapsulation
Ensure all activities comply with cGMP, SOPs, MHRA requirements, approved BPRs, and safety policies
Plan and allocate resources, manage workflow, and monitor performance against production targets
Maintain inspection-ready manufacturing areas with high housekeeping and safety standards
Review batch documentation in real time and manage deviations, investigations, and CAPAs
Supervise, coach, train, and develop Operators and Senior Operators, including performance management
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, process optimisation, and equipment upgrades
Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, QC, Engineering, Packaging, and Planning teams
Ensure production equipment is maintained, calibrated, and available
Represent manufacturing during internal and external audits
Provide hands-on operational support when required
About You You will be an experienced manufacturing leader with a strong background in GMP-regulated environments.
Essential requirements:
Supervisory or leadership experience within pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing
Strong GMP and cleanroom experience
Experience reviewing batch documentation and managing deviations
Confident people management and communication skills
Engineering or pharmaceutical qualification (Level 3 or equivalent)
