Job Summary
We are looking for experienced or newly qualified Mental Health Nurses to join our Staff Nurses on Brooker Ward, a 22‑bedded unit for people living with dementia and mental illness. You will work as part of the team to ensure effective care and treatment on the older persons mental health acute admission ward at St James Hospital in Portsmouth.
Key Responsibilities
* Meet the needs of patients and their families, achieving improved health outcomes and promoting health and wellbeing through person‑centred, culturally sensitive, evidence‑based care.
* Develop and maintain a culture of service improvement that promotes quality and safety.
* Act in accordance with the NMC code: prioritise people; practice effectively; preserve safety; promote professionalism and trust.
* Serve as a positive role model, coach and mentor junior colleagues and students, providing supervision and engagement.
Qualifications and Experience
* BSc Nursing or registered RN with the NMC.
* Practice assessor/supervisor experience (preferred).
Other Requirements
* Must have current UK professional registration.
* Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; no Skilled Worker visa sponsorship is available.
* Employment is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
Salary & Benefits
Band 5 – £32,073 to £39,043 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time). Permanent contract. Working patterns include full‑time, part‑time, and flexible working.
