Mechanical Engineer role at NSG Environmental Ltd. Location: Chorley/Hybrid. Department: Engineering. Position: Staff. Clearance: BPSS.
NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years, delivering a broad spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, including consultancy support, R&D and engineering design, refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard decommissioning works. The Role
The Mechanical Project Engineer will provide technical knowledge, guidance and support to deliver projects, ensuring that all actions, activities and outputs underpin the integrity, expertise and competency of the company.
Key Objectives
* Respond to client or colleague enquiries and take necessary actions to develop an effective engineering solution
* Production of, but not limited to: Concept, scheme and detailed design documentation
* Underpinning design calculations and analytical assessments
* Engineering reports
* Provision of relevant data, theory, formulae or standards to support design, manufacture, installation or equipment test
* Self checking of all documentation prior to submitting for formal check and review
* Liaise with internal and group company colleagues to provide, but not limited to, the following: Originate, prepare and deliver project documentation and engineering design deliverables
* Provide technical oversight to sub-contract packages of work
* Attend and contribute to engineering/project meetings
* Attend and participate in sub-contract/client design reviews
* Check and review engineering and project deliverables and outputs and provide constructive feedback
* Bid support
* Communicate effectively with all members
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical discipline
* Membership of appropriate technical / professional body
* IOSH Managing Safely or formal H&S qualification - Relevant training will be provided if required
Experience & Knowledge
* Understanding of the Project lifecycle and how projects are delivered within NSG
* Basic understanding of the UK Nuclear Industry
* Understanding of the radiological controls used within the type of projects delivered by NSG
Skills & Abilities
* Competent user of MS Office
* Ability to organise own work and effectively deliver under the guidance of a Project Manager
* Ability to prepare and present reports, documentation and information in support of project delivery
* Ability to interpret and evaluate technical data
* Ability to communicate with a wide range of colleagues at all levels and with external stakeholders and contractors
* Knowledge of ISO 9001 / 14001 & 45001
Package
* Hours - 37.5 hours per week
* Overtime – 37.5-60 hours per week – Time and half
* Overtime – 60+ hours per week or Sundays – Double time
