We are seeking a highly skilled CNC machinist to join our in-house engineering department, working at the forefront of classic Aston Martin engine development and restoration.
This role is centred around the machining and development of engine components — including raw cylinder head castings, engine blocks, and bespoke performance parts — supporting both restoration and our ongoing engineering programmes.
The Role
* CNC machining of raw and semi-finished cylinder heads and engine blocks
* Programming, setting and operating our Doosan CNC machinery
* Machining one-off and small batch precision components
* Working from CAD models, engineering drawings, and in some cases, developing machining strategies from first principles
* Supporting R&D projects, including our uprated Aston Martin engine programmes
* Inspection and quality control of machined components
* Collaborating closely with engine builders and design engineers
Working Environment
This is not a production environment. Every project is approached with care, accuracy, and an emphasis on quality over volume. Opportunities to join the team are rare and reserved for individuals who take genuine pride in their work and can appreciate a key part of the role is the opportunity to see your work through from raw material to finished component, and ultimately into a running engine. There is a real satisfaction in knowing that the parts you machine go on to power some of the most iconic cars, rather than disappearing into a production line.
You will be working as part of a small, highly skilled team on projects that demand both precision and thought, where your input genuinely matters.
Development & Progression
This role offers the opportunity to expand beyond machining into wider engine development work, including:
* Exposure to engine remanufacturing and assembly processes
* Involvement in cylinder head flow bench development and testing
* Working closely alongside highly skilled engineers and engine builders, with the opportunity to develop a broader understanding of engine performance and design
This is a role for someone who wants to deepen their engineering capability, not remain confined to a production-style machining position.
What We’re Looking For
* A strong track record in CNC machining within a precision engineering environment is essential
* Strong experience in CNC machining (3/4/5 axis preferred)
* Proven ability to machine complex aluminium castings (ideally cylinder heads or similar)
* Experience working to tight tolerances on high-value components
* Confidence in programming (Fusion 360, Hypermill, or similar CAM software advantageous)
* A methodical, detail-driven approach with a strong sense of ownership
* Ability to think beyond drawings and contribute to machining strategy
Highly desirable:
* Experience machining engine components (cylinder heads, blocks, crankcases)
* Motorsport, aerospace, or high-performance engineering background
* Understanding of fixturing complex castings
* Interest in classic or high-performance engines
What We Offer
* The opportunity to work on rare and significant Aston Martin engines
* Involvement in cutting-edge development projects alongside heritage restoration
* A clean, well-equipped, and forward-thinking engineering environment
* Competitive salary based on experience
* Long-term career opportunity within a respected specialist business
